Two storey planning to reduce the footprint and captured maximum sun and views on both levels. The residence was excavated into the site as a level platform to minimize environmental impact, maximize outdoor space, and overcome height and site coverage limitations. A steel portal structure with full height glass sliding doors on east, north, and west extend lower level living out to part height masonry boundary walls slotted for views. Upper bedrooms face north with full height glass and louvred wall screening summer sun whilst allowing winter sun and controlled views and privacy. Concealed stacking sliding doors between kitchen and east living space provide a movable division for separate heating or flexible use. Clean lines of plaster, titan panels, and aluminium joinery are terraced modernist boxes in earthy tones to blend and also juxtapose with the landscape. Automation of energy efficient heating, blinds, and high levels of insulation provide all year round liveability to overcome weather extremes. Interiors are clean crisp black on white gloss and textured combinations with aluminium paneled joinery and fittings. Restrained colour use allows views, artwork, and mood lighting to enhance the architecture and create ambiance for entertain with family and friends, or relaxing
